How I got into wedding Photography

I trained as a photographer during my enlistment in the US Navy. My journey into wedding photography, however, began with a personal experience. My wife and I got married at the Ritz Carlton in Montego Bay, Jamaica, opting for an all-inclusive package. The night before the wedding, a power outage struck the island, delaying my wife’s preparations by two hours. Despite the setback, she looked absolutely gorgeous when she walked down the aisle. Unfortunately, just half an hour after the ceremony, the package photographer informed us that his time was up and demanded extra payment to continue. In that moment, I thought, “If I were a wedding photographer, I would never take advantage of someone on their wedding day.”

After our wedding, my wife started a bridal business. Her clients often shared their disappointing wedding photos with her. Recognizing my photography skills, she encouraged me to try shooting weddings and arranged for me to be a guest photographer at a few of her events. I immediately fell in love with capturing the essence of weddings. She then bought me my first digital camera, as I had been using film, and I spent the next few years training with two professional photographers. Soon after, I started my own business.

The name Allgood Photography stems from a small venture I once pursued in 2007 called U.S. Allgoods. That’s my journey into wedding photography, and I hope you continue along with me.
